"Dr. Dixon and Carlos Villa did a
great job at making my experience at 'the Mag Lab' interesting
and educational. Thank you for making the mentorships
possible."
-- Chad Hanna, resident 002-'003 |
During the spring semester, each resident has the option of
participating in one of a number of small mentor groups, where
faculty members from various subject areas meet informally to
pursue topics that match the scholarly interests of the faculty
member and the students' thirst for knowledge.
Typically the maximum size for these groups is six students.
Successfully completing one of these mentorships earns the student
one hour's credit toward graduation. Perhaps more importantly,
this contact with some of Florida State's most accomplished
professors can help Bryan residents gain a much clearer understanding
of what life can be like at a research university.

Opportunities
Mentorships are literally
small-group tutorials. If you have an idea for a group research
or creative project, or if you want to explore a particular
field or topic, please let us know your
interests.
"The mentorship program with Dr.
Dennis Moore, in which a small group of 'Bryan Hallers'
met once a week to discuss the New Yorker magazine, was
a fun and insightful way to take a break from the stresses
of intense study and to simply kick back and learn the
fun way."
