May I participate in other communities and student organizations while being a member of the Bryan Hall Learning Community?

Of course! Part of your first-year college experience includes exploring the many opportunities for campus involvement that await you. We encourage you to visit the Oglesby Union (usually on Wednesdays) to find out how to get involved with various clubs and organizations. However, do be cautious about over-committing yourself. Your freshman year will be full of activity and adjustment.

When you accept an invitation to the Bryan Hall Learning Community, you make a commitment to be an active participant. Some campus organizations/communities will demand more of your time than others, so we strongly encourage you to make informed choices. Begin exploring your "curiosity and desire to learn" to determine the expectations an organization outside of Bryan will have before committing to it; consider how your active involvement in this program will be a priority. Investigate the activity requirements during and beyond "rush" for Greek Life, find out clubs' and other organizations' membership expectations, and carefully consider how you'll realistically strike a balance between participation in your learning community, your course work, and these other time commitments.
