"I feel the Bryan Learning Community to be a worthwhile and educational experience. My desire to learn has only been empowered by the valuable social and educational tools I have received. The distinguished faculty that I have come in contact with due to this program will only serve as a springboard into my academic career at FSU."
--Steve Halsell

Bryan Hall In-House Course

In the fall semester all Bryan Hall residents enroll for one credit hour of HUM1921.01. Unlike a traditional class, this Colloquium is a series we have designed specifically for Bryan hall students, where they listen to presentations and ask questions of award-winning faculty members. Past speakers have included Pulitzer Prize recipients and numerous recipients of University Teaching Awards and the University Distinguished Teacher Award. To learn more about the Colloquium, click here.

In addition to the fall Colloquium, each Bryan Hall resident enrolls in at least two "in-house" courses per year, one each semester. These Liberal Studies classes meet in the Bryan Hall classroom and are taught by some of Florida State's most accomplished faculty members. What's more, each of these classes is small: the classroom's capacity is 22 students! Each of our in-house courses is appropriate for freshmen, and many fulfill a range of Liberal Studies requirements.  Whether fulfilling Liberal Studies or elective credit, each course will count toward graduation and be part of a resident's regular semester schedule.

In the Spring semester all Bryan Hall residents also have the opportunity to enroll for one additional credit hour of HUM1921 by signing up for a mentor group with a faculty member. To learn more about mentor groups, click here.
